Here is a sample fight on my site, but in the beginning of a fight the person who types the first post would post the place of the fight, their challenge, and so on...
Captains will comment at your RPing during a fight to help you. Here is a practice fight between two cats.... see how I comment and how they respond?

OOC: Okay, Nightstar! Thanks! I'm always forgetting to RP in present tense! I'll try to do it!
BIC: **Lightningpaw is shaken off easily by Streampelt's rolling. He falls onto the dry, hard-packed ground. Then he rolls over and pushes himself up, dust clinging to his fur.**

**Streampelt jumps at Lightningpaw with great speed! As she jumps on her back Streampelt attemps to rake her back!**

OOC: Streampelt, don't forget that this is a practice fight, so your claws must be sheathed at all times!

OOC: I didn't say they were unsheathed!!

**Lightningpaw tried to and move to the side when Streampelt leaped at him, but he couldn't get out of her way in time. She landed on him squarely and he felt her sheathed claws going down his back. He rolled over, trying to force off of his back!**

OOC: What I mean is, that raking a cats back means applying a looooong scratch, so when your claws are sheathed or retracted, the claws are covered in fur, hidden in a cat's paw, facing upward. They are sheathed like a sword, and cats do not need their claws all the time, only for hunting, fighting, and when they stretch or climb. Cats retract their claws to keep them sharp. The only feline in the world who doesn't do that is the cheetahs, who needs those claws to grip the earth while they fly across it. A cat with retracted claws walks only on its paw pads. Claws where developed for the main reason of scratching prey and slashing it to death, so domestic animals are sometimes declawed, but left their back claws for climbing purposes. So, a cat paw has such advanced tendons and ligaments, that a cat can curl its toes without extending its claws. The claws would still be pulled back and not in use for the moment. The reason Erin Hunter calls claws "sheathed" or "un-sheathed" is because there is a fleshy sheath that the claw is retracted into by an equal amount of tendons and the muscles that flex a cat's digits. Sonce a cheetah never retracts it's claws, they are dull and good for gripping the ground. A cheetah takes down it's prey by biting the nape of the neck, damaging either the brain or the spinal cord. Therefore, Lightningpaw never felt the sheathed claws, but a bare paw running down his back! So, Streampelt couldn't of raked Lightningpaw's back without un-sheathing his claws!
Whew... I feel winded...

BIC: **Lightningpaw got up quickly and tried to leap onto her back and attempt to pin her to the ground!**

**Streampelt quickly turned around exposing her soft belly and tried to get Lightningpaw off with her hind legs.**Not bad for an apprentice!**She mews to Lightningpaw.

Thank...you! **Lightningpaw struggled to mew. He was starting to get tired, but he tried hard to hold on to Streampelt but her strong legs pushed him away and he fell back quickly. He got up slowly and turned to face the she-cat. He dashed forward and tried to bat at her ears (with his claws sheathed)!**

**Streampelt tries to dodge it, but only manges to avoid one swipe. She then attempts to grab her scruff.**(Without hurting the apprentice!)

**Lightningpaw is dragged to the ground when he feels Streampelt grab him by the scruff of his neck. He tries to twist out of her strong grasp, his eyes narrowed with determination. But he couldn't help feeling a ripple of excitement. The young black and white apprentice loves to practice his fighting!** [/b]
