Chapter One
A silent gray shadow crept through the underbrush of Thunderclan’s forest. The gray tabby she-cat was on a hunting patrol. Her father, Waterstone, and Blueflame were following behind her. Rainwhisker stopped as she scented Shadowclan. The two toms must’ve scented it, too, because they started snarling. “I’ll take care of this,” she meowed to them. Blueflame looked at her suspiciously before following Waterstone. If she hadn’t been deputy, Blueflame wouldn’t have obeyed her. Rainwhisker padded into the sight of a pure black tom with eyes blacker than death. “Ebonsoul!” she hissed, a hint of affection in her voice. “What’re you doing here?” The black tom rubbed heads with Rainwhisker. “I came to visit you.” he meowed. “Two of our warriors almost caught you, though!” “Oh well. All that matters is that they didn’t.” Ebonsoul and Rainwhisker stayed together for a while. Even though they were from two different clans, they were still caring mates. A while later, Rainwhisker and Ebonsoul were lying next to each other, Ebonsoul licking the top of her head, as Rainwhisker heard a patrol coming. “Quick, go back to your territory.” Rainwhisker whispered. Ebonsoul nodded and quickly ran off. Rainwhisker ran off after him as if she were chasing him. Ebonsoul understood what she was doing. It turned out that the patrol wasn’t following them. They figured that Rainwhisker had it handled, since they caught her scent, too. Rainwhisker watched Ebonsoul leave into his territory. She padded back to Blueflame and Waterstone. She caught some fresh-kill along the way so that she wouldn’t have to explain what took so long. “Hello Rainwhisker.” Blueflame meowed with fake respect as the gray tabby padded into his view. “Hello Blueflame. Waterstone.” the she-cat meowed. “Have you caught fresh-kill?” Both toms nodded. “Good. Let’s go back to camp.” The three cats of Thunderclan silently gathered their fresh-kill and headed back to camp. Rainwhisker wondered when Ebonsoul would be made deputy. She knew he deserved it. She knew that Bristlestar was thinking about it. Why wouldn’t he just name Ebonsoul the deputy? ~Oh right….~ she thought. ~Firemark is still alive.~ Rainwhisker led Blueflame and Waterstone into the Thunderclan camp. The three warriors dropped their fresh-kill off and went their separate ways. Rainwhisker stretched out in front of the warriors’ den, her mind wandering onto things. She had asked Ebonsoul about kits during their meeting. They had both agreed. ~What will they be like?~ she thought happily. She couldn’t wait to have her mate’s kits.

Chapter Two
The next morning, Rainwhisker could be found sitting in Menacestar’s den. Menacestar was a handsome, muscular ginger tom with black paws. He had been leader of Thunderclan for quite a while, ever since Rainwhisker was an apprentice. He was on his fifth life. “Who are we going to bring to the gathering tonight?” Rainwhisker asked. “I was thinking….Blueflame, Scarletpaw, Badgerpelt, Moonfur, Ravenpaw, Dawnpaw, Cloudsky, and Runningpaw.” “Are you sure about Runningpaw?” “Why wouldn’t I be?” “Well…he’s just been so rough with the other apprentices lately…” “He’ll be fine. Trust me, Rainwhisker.” “I always do.” Rainwhisker padded out of Menacestar’s den and headed out of the camp. She wondered if Ebonsoul would be waiting for her this time, or if she was to go over there. ~I’ll go there if he’s not waiting for me.~ she decided. So, off padded Rainwhisker. The silent gray shadow padded quickly through the underbrush of Thunderclan territory. She was heading towards the place where Ebonsoul had met her yesterday. She stopped when she got there. She looked around for any sign of him, and scented the air for any scent of him. Ebonsoul was nowhere to be found. Rainwhisker stayed there until it was almost sunhigh. ~Where is he? Is he alright?~ Rainwhisker headed to the Thunderpath. She waited until there were no monsters coming, then she darted off towards Shadowclan’s territory. Sure enough, Ebonsoul was waiting for her on the other side of the Thunderpath. “Where were you, Ebonsoul? I was getting worried!” Rainwhisker meowed, nuzzling heads with him. “I didn’t want to risk getting caught again. I didn’t want to be prevented from seeing you.” The two cats stayed by the Thunderpath, where their scents would be hidden. They talked about what they thought their kits would be like. They talked about what their kits would grow up to do. They talked about just about everything they could think of. They stayed by that acrid-smelling Thunderpath until it was way past sunhigh. “I had better be going. My clan will be wondering where I’ve been.” she purred, licking his ear. Ebonsoul nodded and watched as the gray she-cat crossed the Thunderpath, into Thunderclan territory once more.
Rainwhisker got all of the cats that were going to the Gathering into a line in front of the gorse tunnel. “We’re ready, Menacestar!” she called. Menace star padded out of his den and to the front of the line of cats. He quickly padded out of the camp, with Rainwhisker and the rest of the cats following. The cats went swiftly through the night. Rainwhisker smiled as she heard the excited whispers of the apprentices. When they were close, Menacestar hissed for them to be quiet. Rainwhisker padded up to Menacestar’s side. The two looked down at the clans that were already there, Riverclan and Shadowclan. Windclan would be there soon. Menacestar flicked his tail and the Thunderclan cats charged into the clearing. Menacestar took his place with Bristlestar and Minorstar. Rainwhisker wondered why she didn’t see Ebonsoul. Why would he be one to stay behind from a Gathering? ~Oh well.~ she thought. She could always ask him tomorrow. Pretty soon, Windclan joined them and Reedstar joined the other three leaders. ~Where’s Firemark?~ Rainwhisker thought as she took her place with two of the three other deputies. Firemark was nowhere to be found. Soon, the Gathering began

Chapter Three
Bristlestar was the first to speak. The cats grew silent. He reported of kits, apprentices and new warriors. “Firemark is not here tonight, for he is gravely ill. Tigerflower is doing her best to heal him. On brighter news, Tigerflower has adopted Lightpaw as her apprentice.” Meows of approval went through the crowd. Rainwhisker smiled as she saw the apprentice hold herself up high as she was named. The cats grew silent as Reedstar stepped forward to speak. The frail leader was on her eighth life. Her last piece of news was that they lost one of their queens to kitting, but her three kits were healthy enough to survive. After Minorstar and Menacestar had finished, the Gathering was over. Rainwhisker went over with Menacestar to go back to camp. Rainwhisker headed to the warriors’ den after they got back. She fell asleep with dreams of a black tom, and silver and black kittens.
Rainwhisker padded out with Dawnpaw, her apprentice the next morning. Rainwhisker looked at the ginger apprentice next to her. She smiled as she dropped into a hunting crouch and sprang on a sparrow. Rainwhisker purred with approval. “Good job, Dawnpaw!” she meowed. Dawnpaw brightened up at her mentor’s praise. The two she-cats searched for more fresh-kill after burying the sparrow. Rainwhisker tensed up as she scented Shadowclan. It wasn’t just Ebonsoul. It was Bristlestar, Ebonsoul, and two other warriors that Rainwhisker didn’t know the names of. “Dawnpaw, go to camp and tell them that we have company.” Rainwhisker whispered. Dawnpaw nodded and silently darted off. Rainwhisker stepped out in front of the group of Shadowclan cats. “What are you doing on our territory?” she growled. Ebonsoul stepped forward, meeting her gaze. “We would like to speak with Menacestar, if you would kindly let us.” he meowed with no emotion whatsoever. Rainwhisker growled, and nodded once. She led the Shadowclan cats to Thunderclan camp. Menacestar was waiting in front of High Rock, Dawnpaw sitting next to him. Menacestar growled as he saw the cats following his deputy. “What do you want?” he growled. Bristlestar sat down in front of Thunderclan’s leader. “One of your warriors killed Firemark last night.” he hissed. Rainwhisker, Menacestar, and Dawnpaw’s eyes all widened as if on cue. “What? How?” Menacestar asked. “You heard me. And I don’t know why, but we will find out.” Rainwhisker growled threateningly. “Are you threatening him?” Ebonsoul stepped between her and Bristlestar. “Are YOU threatening HIM?” Rainwhisker growled and glared at him. Ebonsoul didn’t react. “I am sorry, Bristlestar. I will find out which one killed Firemark. I will exile whoever did it.” Bristlestar growled. “Rainwhisker, would you escort these cats off our territory?” Menacestar asked. Rainwhisker nodded and followed them out. She walked next to Ebonsoul. The two started to fall behind. “What was that all about?” Rainwhisker hissed. Ebonsoul turned and pinned her to the ground unexpectedly. Rainwhisker was too surprised to do anything. The black tom dipped his head so his muzzle was close to her ear. “I was the one that did it.” he whispered. “I killed Firemark. If you weren’t going to bear my kits, I’d kill you right here.”

=) Thanks!
Yeah, it took a lot of thought...
It's based on an rp site that my friend and I used to have. Her character was Ebonsoul, and Rainwhisker was my character. =)

Chapter Four
Ebonsoul released her from his grip and followed after his clan-mates. Rainwhisker was stunned. She couldn’t believe that her mate had turned on her like that! She quickly caught up with the group and escorted them off of Thunderclan territory. On her way back, she found Dawnpaw had been following them. “Dawnpaw! What are you doing here?” “I-I-I thought you might need me….” “Menacestar told me to take them back, not you.” “I-I know…” “Then why did you follow me?” “I…I just thought that if you were to get hurt, no one would be around to help you…so…” Rainwhisker sighed. She couldn’t get mad at this apprentice. ~She was only trying to help…she didn’t get hurt, and she isn’t really in trouble….~ she thought. The gray tabby looked at Dawnpaw. She sighed. “It’s alright, Dawnpaw. I appreciate the thought.” Dawnpaw seemed to brighten up again. “So I’m not in trouble?” “That’s right.” As Rainwhisker followed Dawnpaw back, she was still thinking about what Ebonsoul had said. ~Why would he say that?~ she thought. ~I haven’t done anything wrong…have I? And why did he kill Firemark?~
Rainwhisker went out on patrol the next day with Dawnpaw, Moonfur, and Cloudsky. The four cats were extra careful around the Shadowclan/Thunderclan border. Menacestar had told them to send extra patrols there. The gray tabby she-cat looked over at Shadowclan territory. She had a feeling that a certain cat was watching them. Just watching…. She shook the feeling away and continued on with the patrol. Dawnpaw padded slowly next to Rainwhisker, matching her pace as best as she could. Moonfur and Cloudsky took up the rear. Rainwhisker thought she could hear a growl that blended in with the wind…a familiar voice speaking to her…. ‘That’s it Rainwhisker….when the kits are born, you better watch your back…’

Chapter Five
A few days and nights passed. Rainwhisker was starting to think that Ebonsoul had forgotten about her. She didn’t care if he had or not. She vowed that her kits wouldn’t have anything to do with their father. Nothing happened for a long while. Rainwhisker stayed in the nursery with Sapphiresong and her kits: Jasperkit, Grasskit, and Skillkit. Rainwhisker loved the three kits dearly and she was good friends with Sapphiresong. She had almost forgotten that she was bearing the kits of Shadowclan’s demon. Soon the day came. Rainwhisker lay in the nursery as her kitting began. Waterstone sat next to her, helping to comfort her as the medicine cat worked with the kits and the delivery. There were four in all. All of them had the silver markings of Rainwhisker, but they also had black markings from Ebonsoul. Two of them didn’t survive the kitting. Two of them did. Rainwhisker licked the two kits, both toms, in turn. She looked at them both with a loving look in her eyes. “What are you going to name them?” Waterstone asked quietly. Rainwhisker looked at them. “Bloodkit….and Ragekit.” ~For what I know will be shed because of them and for what I feel towards that demon.~ Rainwhisker thought. Waterstone nodded as he looked at his two grandsons. He wished that Stareye, Rainwhisker’s mother and Waterstone’s mate, could be here to see them. She had died in her kitting when she gave birth to Rainwhisker. As Rainwhisker looked at the two kits, she knew Ebonsoul would want to see them. She remembered her promise to herself and vowed to keep that promise. Bloodkit and Ragekit would not have any contact with Ebonsoul. How wrong she was. About five suns after her kitting, Shadowclan attacked. Among them was Ebonsoul and Bristlestar. Rainwhisker told Blueflame and Waterstone to stay in the nursery with Sapphiresong and the kits. Rainwhisker growled as Ebonsoul stalked towards her. She stood protectively in front of the nursery. “Where are they?” Ebonsoul growled. “Why should I tell you?” “Because they’re my kits, too!” Rainwhisker growled and crouched down into a pouncing position. Ebonsoul matched her position. The two pounced on each other and started fighting. The battle was ended quickly by Bristlestar who yowled out for them to retreat. “It worked. I’m deputy now.” Ebonsoul whispered to Rainwhisker as he ran off with his clan. Rainwhisker gasped for breath as she watched Shadowclan leave. She collapsed onto the ground, her sides heaving. Having a fight like that so soon after her kitting was too much for her. Waterstone and Blueflame came out of the nursery. Waterstone nudged Rainwhisker gently. “Your kits are waiting for you.” he meowed softly. Rainwhisker sighed and followed him into the nursery. She gasped slightly. The kits’ eyes were open! Bloodkit and Ragekit were mewing for their mother. Rainwhisker padded over to them. She laid down next to the kits and let them suckle. Waterstone watched his daughter and grand-sons. “I’ll leave now.” he meowed quietly. Rainwhisker watched her father leave before looking back at her sons. ~They’ll never know about Ebonsoul. I’ll make sure of it.~
THE END
How'd you guys like it? =)
