~Cat Species and Color Guide~ Here is a color guide for your cats. You know, there are a lot of colors out there.Think hard when you make a cat character: the color possibilities are endless! -Tabbies-Tabby cats are cats with stripes. Sometimes called "tiger cats", tabbies have stripes on their faces, back, tail, and legs. There are many different ways these stripes can be arranged, though, including the following four possibilities. Tabby cats are quite common as ferals, some say the first domestic cat was a tabby. Tabby Patterns- Mackerel Tabby: Mackerel tabbies are cats with stripes that are paralell and give a cat the appearence of a tiger. Picture:www.seregiontica.org/Colors/tabby/blackmactabby.jpgClassic Tabby: These tabbies have prominent, darker striped that swirl around a cats coat. They are also called "blotched tabbies." Picture:www.norskskovkat.dk/pictures/ns22.jpgSpotted Tabby: A spotted tabby have spots instead of stripes, that often look like broken mackerel stripes. The spots may be larger or smaller. Picture:www.bellbooknbengal.com/sitebuilder/images/selene-275x215.jpgTicked Tabby: A ticked tabby (AKA: abyssinian tabby, agouti tabby.) does not bear spots, only stripes on it's face, and many agouti hairs. Agouti hair is the main color of a tabby. Picture: www.seregiontica.org/Colors/tabby/redtickedtabby.jpgBasic Tabby Colors- Brown Tabby: A brown tabby has black stripes on a brownish base color. When I'm done with it.... -Solids and Smokes-If your cat is the same color all over, it is solid, or "self". Solid Black: A solid black cat is black all over it's body. It can be different shades of black, including coal black, grayish black, or brownish black. Picture:www.javajane.co.uk/animal/cats/black_cat.jpgSolid Blue: Solid blues are a bluish gray color all over their bodies. It may be a dark slate gray, a medium gray, or a pale ash gray. Picture:www.petnet.com.au/cat/C115.jpgSolid White: Solid whites are guess what? White! White cats usually have blue eyes, and sometimes green or golden eyes. There is even a species that was bred through selective breeding called an odd-eyed white, and it has one eye orange, and the other is blue. White cats are often deaf, but not always. Picture:www.oxygenmiracles.com/images/cat-white.jpgSolid colors were bred by repeatedly breeding together tabbies that had less stripes. Some solids have a slight trace of stripes, not unlike a black leopards... When the tips of a cat's fur is gray or black, and the roots of the fur is white, that cat is a "smoke". Black Smoke: These cats are solid black white white hair roots. Picture:neon-cat.devonrex.com/album/gallery/3661-20010815100836.jpgGray Smoke: Gray smokes are solid blue with white hair roots. Picture:www.fancycats.org/adoptioncenter/STU/Smoke20040830-feat.jpgI'll put this all together when I'm finished, so I'll do a section each day, and when I'm done, I will add it as a threa in the joining board.
